Waiting for the floodgate to reopen

Many people cannot wait for the floodgate to reopen. A lot continue to ‘chiong’ (rush) outside in groups in past many weeks. Some still refused to wear a face-mask under the disguise of ‘exercising’ outdoor. What the heck!

The invisible ‘enemy’ is still out there. The risk is still high. Meantime, I’d still continue my guerilla warfare tactic, i.e. hit-and-run. Go to the planned location in double-quick time, execute my ‘mission’ and quickly return to my rabbit hole. 

BIG means BIG Troubles

BIG doesn’t mean Bravo.

Sometimes, BIG equates to BIG troubles.  

You see, we are the Biggest importer of low-wage FW in South East Asia. It was reported that current ratio stands at 68 FW per 1,000 residents here compared to 15 or less in neighbouring countries. The biggest problem here is the high numbers of infection cases of Covid-19 in FW staying in cramped dormitories. Our Big Brother now needs Plan-B to Bite the Bullet and execute BOLD moves to correct the initial ‘BO-Da-Zi’ (nothing unusual) and ‘Bo-Chap’ (Ignore) approach. Current ‘Bold’ moves seem to be late and are nothing but akin to taking BABY-steps in very BIG shoes. Now Big Bro is paying (taxpayers’ money) to house them, feed them and pay them. Soon, we may be going Bankrupt liao!

Same Challenge Different Outcomes

It’s very rare countries around the world are facing the same challenges at the same time. Same crisis with very different outcomes. By now, it’s pretty obvious what had worked, what did not.

Based on data and facts, it seems that women are better at handling this pandemic than men! People under their care do not need to endure longer hardships and lockdowns. Kudos to all these women. Never underestimate them!

Still Finding Our Way!

With the experiences of handling SARS and H1N1, the team should have performed above expectations but has not. Other countries are now easing their lockdowns and slowly reopening their economies while we are still in CB mode.

After many weeks of WFH and STAY@Home, I’m already getting slightly depressed and more anxious. Many things cannot be done now. How are all the FW going to survive being lockdown for 2 months in their small rooms in their dormitory?

Some may just go crazy!
