To use or not to use?

I read in the news today that a local influencing model is now embroiled in a legal tussle with an artist who used her image to create artwork for commercial use.

This is a ‘sticky’ issue as image or personality rights including name and likeness – are not recognized under Singapore law. Even the subject in a photograph is often not the owner of the copyright. However, copyrights of created artworks (not manipulated from images) rightfully belong to the artist unless they are being sold with the artworks.

By right, artists should ask the subject for permission before using their images to create artworks for commercial use. By left, no artists would ask the subject for permission because they know the subject would ask for exorbitant fees as compensation! This is an example of our ‘grey’ world that some artists sometimes face.

Lucky for me, I have not come to this stage for this side gig. This explains why there isn’t much inside my wallet.

The negative impact of the pandemic

This drawing was inspired by real persons.

This pandemic is really a big disruptor to our daily lives. It disrupted all our plans and movements. It also alters our outlook, thinking and perhaps also our behaviours. One thing that remains unchanged is our habits. As the saying goes: old habits die hard.

What's your personality type?

With years of observing and working with different people, I can now predict people’s personalities with 90% accuracy by just looking at their behaviors, habits and actions. Once they open their mouths to talk, my prediction accuracy can go up to as high as 95% accuracy.

Now it’s even easier to predict anyone’s personality. You just need to look at how people wear their face-masks. My prediction accuracy has now gone up to 98%. They fall into one of 9 personality types!

There is no need to study or know what’s Myers-Briggs 16 Personality Types or the Four types of human behaviour by Thomas Erikson.

What’s your personality type?

I believe yours is different from mine.

You are your own boss

Drawing inspired by real event.

Some people asked me what they should do when their bosses are bias and toxic. This is a big-dollar question. This is what I advised them:

Before you join the organization, you have to interview your potential immediate boss to judge his/her personality and character. If you find that it’s not a good fit but the remuneration and benefits are very good, you have to decide your next action(s) to accept, reject the job offer.

After you have joined the organization, you realize the true-colors of your boss or a new boss who gives you ‘hell’ everyday. You have to decide your next course of action(s).

In short, you’re your own boss deciding your own fate and destiny. What you do or not do is up to you. You have a choice!

International Women’s Day

Other than connections and trade-offs, I believe women who had reached top positions in their organizations have special abilities and unmatched skills.

So I interviewed all my friends how they feel working under women bosses. They told me they are all stressed out and dread going to work everyday to face their women bosses!

All their women bosses have very weird personalities. They micro-manage on little things, always shoot-from-the-hip and often do not know what they really want yet expect their staff to read their minds and give-in to their demands and ‘entitlements’. These bosses are really a pain in the a**, they cried.

This probably explains why there is International Women’s Day to celebrate women’s rights but nothing on International Men’s Day as most men would probably prefer to suffer in ‘silent’.

Getting old but not out

This drawing was inspired by actual news reported here.

For that I mean not getting out of the mad rat race.

Despite very old age, many seniors here are still working for a living, even for very low wages. They have little or no choice. Only very few are living to work or are working for their own interests or for a cause other than money. If you belong to this category, congratulations to you! You have made it.

If you are still trying to make ends meet, take one day at a time. Think positively and stay healthy as the road ahead is still long and undulating.
