Keeping the standard

Sometimes I’d draw friends when I run out of faces to paint. But I’ve stopped drawing them for money due to very bad past experiences. These “friends” had lots of expectations, unreal requests and endless questions: “why like this, why like that, huh?” Now for commissioned works, I set conditions and a no refund policy.

Keep it going

Sometimes, I find no new faces to draw. I’d just pause, slow down to admire nature, enjoy the calmness at the rest-stop and sip tea from my small thermal flask. I just pull out an old painting from my art bag to be used as my painting for the week (PTW). I always keep some reserves. In our Hokkien culture,  “No fish, shrimp also can lah.”

Keeping it alive

I’ve painted hundreds of faces but have never painted the future for my art. Where is it leading me to? This is akin to embarking on an adventure not knowing what is ahead and what is to come! I just continue, step-by-step, keep painting one face at a time, week-by-week and leave one painting behind at every rest-stop.

Keep it burning

At this age, I am still trying to improve my digital art.

They are simply not good enough: to my standard.

But I’m just a DIY-hobbyist. I have no teacher, no coach, no mentor. I just keep practicing and learning. I have to keep “adding oil” to fuel this hobby.
