Long Days and Short Years

For anyone who has experienced Quarantine, SHN or self-isolation during this pandemic, time passes differently for everyone. But one thing everybody agrees and confirms is that the day is long and the years are short. This is also the same feeling as those who have retired and have ‘nothing’ to do whole day! Is this your current lifestyle? To some, this is good life 好命😊 envied by many who still struggle to make a living. To others, it’s misery 好苦 not knowing how to pass time!

One step forward and two steps back

In pre-covid times, it’s easy to see humor in almost every challenging situation. Not any more. After more than one year of hunkering down hardships, lockdowns and many restrictions, it’s very tough to be humorous. It’s really very tough to don a face-mask and work whole day under our current hot and humid weather. It’s better to stay indoor with the fan blowing when given a choice. Si-bei jia-lut for those who still need to work outdoor!

There is still no end in sight! :(

Winners never quit and quitters never win

Well said by Vince Lombardi.

In this difficult time, we must not quit vigilance.

We cannot abandon our face-masks.

We cannot stop washing our hands after touching something! We cannot socialize and meet families, friends or strangers unless there is no choice. We must not go to crowded places except for essential needs. If we quit, everything may be over! The risk is very high and would affect many.

Better to be negative

In the past, people kept telling me to be positive. Now, I tell them it’s safer to be negative!

When one is confirmed positive, there is no cure. You would have a long-term health effects on your body and it would be normal. Your family and close contacts would have to suffer lots of disruptions to their well-being. Unless there is really no choice, it’s better to avoid crowded places and social activities. Meantime, we have to try to endure and hunker down to protect oneself and others. We have to try to wait out this pandemic.

Life is still very tough!

Life is equally tough this year!

We are beginning a 2nd lockdown starting today till 13th June.

My ‘boss’ told me times are really very bad. This year, there would be no pay increment. Some more, I have had to do extra site-supervision jobs and special ad hoc assignments. Sigh.

The only incentive gotten was my boss’ took me on a day-trip to re-discover our island’s attractions using free vouchers given by our ‘big bro’.

Happy Mother's Day

I’m not strong, so I cannot work a lot. I can only enjoy a lot.

If you’re a woman who works a lot, you are a strong woman. I envy you. You can take today off for rest!

This is your entitlement.

Happy Mother’s Day.

Every Move Counts

The rising number of Covid-19 cases in the community here is a strong signal that this pandemic is not yet over. Yet many people are letting their guards down. Just look at the crowds everywhere! Many are not even wearing face-mask. Most people walking or stationary think that they are exempted from wearing face-mask when they are in sport attire and running shoes. Walking is not a strenuous exercise unless your heart beat reaches 100 or more. Some people are also standing in the middle of footpaths or walkways and staring blankly into spaces or looking at their mobile devices’ screens that don’t move. These are very strange behaviours! To minimize infection risk, the best move is don’t move at all! I’m staying indoor to wait out this pandemic except for essential needs.
