Time for Reflection

Dear Global Leaders,
You may or may not recognise it, global warming and climate change have affected the earth in the last century. Climate changes can be pinned to two main factors- natural and human activities. It is understandable that nothing you could do to suppress natural events like volcanic eruptions, oceanic currents, change in the orbit of earth and solar variations, etc, surely you can do a lot to curb human activities. But you’ve chosen not to.

You see, human activities and their over consumptions released huge amounts of carbon dioxide and other green-house gases in the atmosphere. However, you do not seem to care or accept the fact that green-house gases leads to climate change and therefore is dangerous to human health and the ecosystem. You only care about your own political and personal gains as most of you are aware that you won’t be in political offices for life. You have used your limited time in public office to complete your own political agendas than to tackle ‘non-value-added’ actions to solve this climate crisis affecting many lives.
The world needs to come together to solve this now! The whole world is now on pause mode and is standing still with many countries on lockdowns. This is nature’s way to heal the earth. When you have found a cure to fight us, we will retreat. Treat this as a warning to you and your leaders to reflect on this topic and exercise your political willpower towards taking drastic actions to reverse this catastrophic climate crisis.

This isn’t the first attack.
Definitely, it won’t be the last!
Treat this as an opportunity to reset and rethink how you would want to move forward.
Good luck!

Desperate measures for desperate times

Dear Big Brother,
When this coronavirus first reached our shore, I was quite calm. I became anxious when no face mask could be found anywhere here. Then you showed us pictures that you have stockpiled face masks and there wasn’t any need to panic. But all shops were still out of stock. Your giving out free 4 face-masks for every household raised my anxiety even more. How could 4 masks last for even 6 months for the whole family? Your argument was: only use the mask when one is sick. But how do you ensure that the sick wears their masks? Most people already knew that asymptomatic people could spread the virus. Just imagine, one person without face-mask coughs or sneezes in a packed train cabin, at least 10 other persons would be infected. You probably wouldn’t understand this since you have had never need to take public transport for your daily commute.

Now is the time to use your diplomatic friendships and political influences to get your many ‘friends’ to lift their export bans on face-masks and hand sanitizers. Please bring in these stocks and allow residents here to buy them at reasonable prices. Please don’t raise prices like our supermarkets and retailers due to shortage of supplies in this difficult time of businesses downturns and lose of incomes for many.

Everyone here is trying to cope and struggling for survival to protect one-self from infection. Desperate times need desperate measures. You can call me an ‘idiot’ or ‘sia-suay’ for panic-buying and hoarding toilet-rolls. It’s better to keep safe than be a forgotten hero that ends up in a box.

I'm Disrupted!

To avoid touching my face, I wear a face mask and safety glasses as barriers when I go outdoor. Also, I try to keep both my hands busy to reduce the chances and risks. Yet, I still inadvertently managed to free my hands somehow to touch my face unknowingly. What the heck. Sigh!

I’m still learning to cope and to live with this COVID-19 pandemic that is spreading like ‘wild fires’ everywhere!

Face mask is still not readily available here without paying exorbitant prices. Very tough times ahead as infected cases here keep rising!

Many countries have already locked down, including our neighbour up north.
Our 'Big Bro' is now thinking to do the same!

SG Clean Certification

There are already many hygiene and cleanliness standards that apply to hawkers. One cannot understand why a need for a new guideline and certification mark issued by our ‘Big Bro’.

This new certification mark should instead be awarded to individuals, like myself because I always:

1) keep public places clean,

2) return my trays, clean table after use at public eating places,

3) keep public toilet clean & dry, never spill-over or leak,

4) wash my hands with soap,

5) take my temperature daily, see a doctor if unwell,

6) use tissue, hanker-chief to cover my nose/mouth when sneezing & coughing,

7) bin all my litters and soiled tissues myself. Never leave them on table for others to clean them after me.
