Strength vs Success

In the past, I didn’t know how to define success.

Now being older, it’s easier to explain things.

Tasks that you hate to do with lots of difficulties and efforts are your weaknesses. Tasks that you need little or no effort to do are your strengths. If your strengths bring in big money, your strengths are your successes. If they bring in zero monetary return, it’s just a hobby, not success. Don’t be mistaken like me to expect hobbies to pay your bills! sigh…

Strength vs Weaknesses

In the past, I spent lots of efforts and time trying to overcome my weaknesses to get by.

Now I realize it’s better to focus on developing and use one’s strengths to excel. But I realized this too late as my ‘runway’ to use my ‘strengths’ to make money is way too short. So if you want to be successful in life, don’t make my mistake!

Conflict vs Interest

In the past, I didn’t know what is conflict of interest. As long as jobs could pay the bills, I’d take them all.

Now, my Sifu (teacher) told me to be careful on this topic. He explained: if I were to work for Singtel in the day, I cannot promote Starhub’s plans at night. If I were to sell Honda card during weekdays, I cannot sell Subaru cars during weekends. I asked him: if my full-time job requires me to wear white, can I wear green for my part-time job?

He just shrug and kept quiet!

Health vs Wealth

In the past, I traded health to try to accumulate wealth. Instead, I gotten no wealth but poor health.

Now, I’ve chosen to keep health and then find opportunities to make wealth (like buying lottery). No health means no energy to take the chance to make wealth. No amount of wealth can trade for good health unless you can buy a clone and are able to transfer all your memories and data into the new brain.

Thinking vs doing

In the past, I do without much thinking.

Now, I think too much before doing.

This explains why I’m not inside the 20% of successful people who hold 80% of the total wealth. I’m still need to continue working today to put food on the table despite having to face and deal with some difficult people at work. Sigh.
