Happy New Year 2012

One year has passed, another new year has just begun,....
I wish all my chinese friends & acquaintances a very Happy & Prosperous Lunar New Year.
May all your wishes come true.

I admire chinese calligraphy works as a form of unique chinese art.
In the olden days, whenever I need some chinese characters for signages or sign-crafts, I would seek out those calligraphers in chinatown, and waited for them for hours before I could get their writings done (their working hours depended on their mood which were erratic).
Many years ago, I learned chinese calligraphy from a well-known singapore calligrapher master for a short period of time. But I never use my heart & discipline to acquire the skill. Today, I still can't use a chinese brush correctly,......(sigh!)

Not all calligraphies are the same. They vary in style & characteristics that reflect those of the calligraphers. Some styles are unique, some are not. some I like, some I don't. I keep those I like for references and use. I wonder why nobody invented various styles & brush strokes just like english alphabet-font types,.......ai-ya-ya !

So far, I have not seen any caricaturists' works incorporating chinese calligraphy. I'm not sure if I'm the first, hehehehe,..........that's the freedom being a caricaturist. You can draw what you wanted, nobody's going to stop you unless you draw the extremes doing the unthinkable with negative effects & you put names & photos with it.

The above drawing of my "home-boss" has a minor error, can you spot it ?
If you do spot it, send me your comment.

Anyway, once again, hope that everyone has a better year ahead !
Happy New Year.
