I grew up reading Old Master Q (老夫子) comics in class. Our teachers were always puzzled why students sometimes broke into laughter in class when lessons were being taught. Now this comic series that has had entertained millions of people around the globe has passed an era with the passing of its creator and cartoonist Alfonso Wong Kar Hei in the United States last Sunday. His son has taken over this comic strip but surely it won’t be the same. As a matter of fact, all good things come to an end. I see no Chinese cartoonist is able to replicate and match this artist’s creativity and success.
